Korea Meteorological Administration pairs a new Cray supercomputer with Altair’s PBS Professional workload manager

Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) recently installed a Cray XC40 system with more than 100,000 computing cores that is expected to deliver about 30 times the computing speed of their previous system. KMA chose Altair’s PBS Professional as the workload manager and, with the help of Altair’s AcuSolve, expects to save up to $61,000 in energy costs a year while lessening the burden on environmental systems.

KMA, part of Korea’s Ministry of Environment, analyzes meteorological phenomena on the ground, in the sea, and in the air at the National Center for Meteorological Supercomputer.
