Cray Embraces Deep Learning

Company validates support for several important deep learning toolkits.

At this year's SC16 Supercomputing conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, Cray announced new deep learning capabilities for its line of cluster and HPC systems. The company has “validated and made available several deep learning toolkits on Cray XC and Cray CS-Storm systems to simplify the transition to running deep learning workloads on scale.”

According to Senior VP Steve Scott, “The convergence of supercomputing and big data analytics is happening now, and the rise of deep learning algorithms is evidence of how customers are increasingly using high performance computing techniques to accelerate analytics applications.”

Deep learning toolkits validated for use with Cray systems through this initiative include Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit, TensorFlow, NVIDIA DIGITS, Caffe, Torch, and MXNet.
