Automate Network Testing with iperf3
The open source iperf3 tool can be used to measure the maximum achievable bandwidth on IP networks. According to the GitHub description, “it supports tuning various parameters related to timing, protocols, and buffers. Each test reports the measured throughput/bitrate, loss, and other parameters.”
And, says Jose Vicente Nunez, it can help you “troubleshoot bandwidth, timing, protocol, and other problems on your TCP/IP network.” In this article, Nunez shows how to:
- Inspect bandwidth issues between two endpoints with iperf 3
- Test UDP multicast connectivity
- Uncover cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors, and more.
