Perforce Releases Commons Document Collaboration Tool
Perforce Software has announced Perforce Commons, a document collaboration tool. According to the announcement, Commons supports all types of files and tracks the history of any file to facilitate finding, revising, and collaborating on documents.
The company states that Perforce Commons lets users see the differences between any two versions of a document at a glance. The new File Valet feature tracks whether a file has been edited, moved, deleted, or altered; who made the change; what version that person was working on; and when the change was made and why. Additionally, Commons can merge different versions of a Microsoft Word or PowerPoint file into a single clean document or presentation, and it allows users to generate links to content to be embedded in other applications.
Commons also lets users add comments and notes, which are permanently stored in the file history and visible to other members of the workspace. The tool can be used on any screen size, including tablets and mobile devices.
Perforce Commons is free for up to 20 users and for all existing users of Perforce Software Version Management products. Pricing for Commons starts at US$ 12 per new user per month, with lower prices for larger volumes. Visit Perforce for more information.
