European HPC Joint Undertaking Seeks Hosts for Quantum Computing Sites

Recipients will receive funding of up to 50% for quantum computers

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has announced that it is seeking entities to serve as hosts for quantum computers that will be available to European users. The plan is to buy “at least two quantum computers in 2024 with a total EU contribution of 20 Million Euros.” EuroHPC JU will fund up to 50% of the total cost of the systems.

According to the press release, “The quantum computers will be integrated into existing supercomputers operated by the hosting entities. The selection will aim at ensuring a diversity in the technologies and architectures of the different quantum computers to be acquired to give users access to different quantum technologies.”

For details, see the Call for Expression of Interest at the EuroHPC JU website. Applications are due by March 31 at 17:00 CET.
