NVidia Opens CUDA Compiler Code

Source code for the NVidia CUDA LLVM-based compiler is available to qualified academic researchers and software tools developers.

NVidia recently announced it would provide the source code for the new NVidia CUDA LLVM-based compiler to qualified academic researchers and software tools developers.

The new source code, which is being released with CUDA Toolkit 4.1, is available now. According to the website, this move will allow researchers and tools vendors to support GPU acceleration in more programming languages, including many new and existing domain-specific languages (DSLs). It also will allow advancements in processor architecture and heterogeneous systems research and allow developers to support CUDA applications on a wide variety of many-core and multicore processors.
