Trump Budget Slashes Science Programs

NIH and NOAA take a major hit, but NSF is unscathed so far.

The Trump administration’s budget for 2018 makes large cuts to many of the nation’s leading science programs, including several organizations that sponsor HPC projects. Reductions include a $6 billion cut to the National Institutes of Health, as well as a $900 million cut to the Department of Energy’s Office of Science and a 5% cut to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Interestingly, the National Science Foundation was not specifically mentioned in the budget.

See the article at HPC Wire for a summary of proposed cuts to science programs.
