Open Nebula 2.2 Includes GUI for Cloud Management

By

The Open Nebula framework for management of clouds and virtualization environments includes a web based GUI in its latest version.

In its latest 2.2 release the open source toolkit Open Nebula includes many new features and bug fixes. It can now detect the failure of a node and trigger appropriate recovery actions. For monitoring it includes the distributed monitoring framework Ganglia. Administrators are now able to change the configuration of virtual networks during runtime without a restart.

As a major improvement Open Nebula 2.2 includes a web-based graphical interface called Sunstone for the administration of the cloud environment. It covers all functionality the command line tools offer. In the future the web GUI will contain user profiles and a graphical representation of the cloud status. There are Open Nebula packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cent OS, Debian, Ubuntu, Open Suse as well as a source code archive. Prerequisites are Ruby 1.8.6, the XMLRPC library, Sqlite3, OpenSSL and SSH.
