HPC Server Sales Set a Record in 2016

The world spent $11.2 billion on high-performance systems.

Market research group Hyperion Research has released a report stating that the HPC technical server market grew 4.4% in 2016 to a record $11.2 billion in total sales. Hyperion compiles a report every quarter through interviews with OEMs in the technical computing space.

According to the latest analysis, which covers data through the end of 2016, sales for supercomputers priced higher than $500,000 grew 26.2% in 2016 to $4 billion. Hyperion expects the worldwide HPC market to grow at a 7.8% rate to reach $15.1 billion by 2020.
