Intel Announces oneAPI Roadmap

Chip giant takes a new step toward its vendor-neutral programming model for accelerated computing.

Intel has announced a new roadmap for its oneAPI initiative, which the company describes as a plan to “create an open, standards-based, unified programming model that provides developers the freedom to choose the best hardware for accelerated computing--CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs other accelerators, collectively described by Intel as XPUs, or a combination thereof.”

The company introduced the oneAPI project at last year's SuperComputing conference. This year, they announce several key milestones for the multi-year development effort. One of the first steps in that roadmap is the gold version of the oneAPI Toolkit, which will appear sometime in December of this year.

See the announcement at the Intel website for more on the oneAPI Toolkit and Intel's oneAPI initiative.
