Fedora 43 Released
The Fedora team has announced the release of Fedora 43.
Notable changes, according to Fedora project leader Jef Spaleta, are:
- Anaconda WebUI is now the default installer interface for Fedora Linux 43 Spins.
- GNOME is now Wayland-only. “GNOME upstream has deprecated X11 support, and has disabled it as a compile time default in GNOME 49. Upstream GNOME plans to fully remove X11 support in GNOME 50,” Spaleta says.
- Fedora Linux 43 is the first release featuring RPM 6.0. “RPM 6.0 provides some interesting security enhancements, like multiple key signing of packages. This should help future-proof package signing as we transition to post-quantum-crypto OpenPGP keys in future releases,” Spaleta notes.
Additionally, as of Fedora 43, Fedora CoreOS updates will be delivered exclusively as OCI images, instead of using an OSTree repository.
See the project release notes as well as the “what’s new” articles for Fedora Workstation 43, Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop, and Fedora Atomic Desktops for more details.
