Cybersecurity Coalition Pledges Not to Pay Ransom Demands

CRI announces measures aimed at helping organizations combat ransomware.

As part of ongoing efforts to combat ransomware, the International Counter Ransomware Initiative (CRI), a US-led cybersecurity coalition, has “pledged never to pay ransom demands,” reports Carly Page.

According to U.S. deputy national security advisor Anne Neuberger, “ransom payments not only fuel future attacks but also don’t guarantee the safe return of stolen data.”

CRI also announced other measures “designed to improve its members’ ability to fight back against ransomware attacks.”
