VMware Announces Zimbra 8.0

VMware announces version 8.0 Beta of its Zimbra Collaboration Server, offering secure connections to personal or public clouds across platforms, is now available for download worldwide.

VMware Inc. has announced version 8.0 of its Zimbra Collaboration Server. According to the announcement, Zimbra 8.0 offers a clear path for moving messaging and collaboration to the cloud. Zimbra 8.0 Beta is now available for download worldwide.

According to the company, the latest version of Zimbra lets organizations – from enterprise companies to small businesses – deploy a browser-based email solution in a private or public cloud. Zimbra 8.0 is available as a virtual software appliance that can be deployed quickly and requires minimal ongoing management. The product connects users to their personal cloud with a redesigned interface and improved mailbox that helps users manage information through email, calendar, voice, and social channels. 

With version 8.0, VMware has partnered with Cisco and Mitel to offer unified communications capabilities embedded within Zimbra. Unified communications are built into Zimbra with a new voice application that features out-of-the-box integration with Cisco and Mitel UC solutions accessible through the main user interface.
