Dell and IonQ Announce Hybrid Quantum Computing Solution

The hybrid model allows conventional infrastructure to interface with quantum systems.

Dell and IonQ have announced a new hybrid classical-quantum computing system, creating a model “for conventional server infrastructure to interface with the unique demands of quantum systems, which are considered significantly faster and solve problems in a different way,” reports Agam Shah.

“The hybrid classical-quantum computing model includes an adjusted hierarchy with conventional servers acting as hosts and managers of attached quantum computers, which compute differently,” Shah says.

The Dell Quantum Computing Solution, which includes both hardware and software, is based on Dell’s PowerEdge servers and IonQ’s quantum technologies and will be available in the United States and Canada.
