IBM Announces Storage Scale 6.0.0
IBM has announced IBM Storage Scale 6.0.0, which it calls “a major evolution” in the company’s global data platform.
A key factor of this release is support for the IBM Storage Scale System data acceleration tier (DAT), which is designed to tackle IOPS bottlenecks. “The data acceleration tier is optimized for the small, random I/O patterns of AI workloads, eliminating queuing and instability under load,” says Mike Kieran in the announcement post.
Storage Scale 6.0.0 includes new features such as content-aware storage (CAS) and expanded NVIDIA integration, along with operational improvements, including:
- One-button GUI upgrades, enhanced prechecks, and unified protocol deployment
- API-driven control plane enhancements to enable automation of advanced features like quotas
- Improved problem determination to streamline root cause analysis and remediation.
