Jupiter Exascale Supercomputer Features ARM Chips

The Jupiter system is expected to come online in 2024.

Europe’s first exascale supercomputer is expected to come online in 2024, but unlike many contenders in the TOP500 list that use x86 chips, the system will feature ARM processors, reports Agam Shah.

The Jupiter supercomputer, which is a project of the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), will include SiPearl’s ARM processor based on ARM’s Neoverse V1 CPU design and “Nvidia’s Booster Module, an integrated system that includes the company’s GPUs and Mellanox interconnects,” Shah notes.
