Red Hat Offers 14-Year Life Cycle Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Red Hat has announced Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Extended Life Cycle, Premium – a new subscription providing a 14-year life cycle for major RHEL releases.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Life Cycle, Premium builds on the existing support offerings to provide “significantly longer base life cycles and the security patches needed to protect important, long-life production systems without forcing disruptive upgrades.” It also provides six years of extended maintenance for minor releases as a single offering.
According to the company, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extended Life Cycle, Premium, includes:
- Extended maintenance: An additional 4 years of extended maintenance after the last minor release of a major version.
- Continued support: Essential support for organizations that cannot migrate to a newer major release due to hardware compatibility issues, application dependencies, or other constraints.
- Maintenance coverage: Includes certain critical-impact security fixes, selected urgent-priority bug fixes, and troubleshooting for the last minor release of a major version of RHEL.
