Tails 7.0 Announced
The Tails team has released version 7.0 of Tails, a portable Linux-based operating system that “uses the Tor network to protect your privacy online and help you avoid censorship.” This release is a major update that includes new versions of many applications.
Tails 7.0, which is based on Debian 13 (Trixie) and GNOME 48 (Bengaluru), replaces GNOME terminal with GNOME Console as the default terminal emulator and features GNOME Loupe as the default image viewer, among other software updates.
This version also starts 10–15 seconds faster on most computers, the announcement says, and has an increased memory requirement from 2GB of RAM to 3GB.
