Ultra Ethernet Consortium Releases 1.0 Specification
The Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC) has released UEC Specification 1.0, “a comprehensive, Ethernet-based communication stack” designed for AI and HPC workloads.
According to the announcement, the specification covers a range of software and hardware relevant to AI and HPC workloads and “delivers a high-performance, scalable, and interoperable solution across all layers of the networking stack – including NICs, switches, optics, and cables.”
The UEC – a consensus-based, standards organization formed in 2023 and operated under the Linux Foundation – says this release “marks a critical step forward in redefining Ethernet for next-generation, data-intensive infrastructure.”
