Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla has been released on the nine-month schedule, with support until July 2021. Ubuntu now has better Active Directory compatibility with fixes to adcli and realmd. Improvement in Server Message Block version 3 (SMBv3) encryption performance has been achieved by switching to GnuTLS. The Gorilla comes with upgrades to LLVM and a number of languages, including Java, C, Rust, Python, Ruby, PHP, Perl, and Go. Other features include:

  • Linux kernel 5.8 with updates
  • Libvirt updated to version 6.6.
  • Liburing asynchronous I/O support for Qemu and Samba
  • Telegraf logging, monitoring, and alerting stack
  • XFS online repair
  • Btrfs RAID1 with three and four copies
