The release features new support for Btrfs.

The AlmaLinux OS Foundation has announced the general availability of AlmaLinux OS 10.1, featuring support for Btrfs.

The new support for Btrfs, which has been available in AlmaLinux OS Kitten since September, “encompasses both kernel and userspace enablement,” says Eduard Abdullin in the announcement. Additionally, he notes, it is now possible to install AlmaLinux OS on a Btrfs filesystem from the very beginning, and broader support for Btrfs features is forthcoming.

Other improvements highlighted by Abdullin include:

  • Extended hardware support through the addition of new drivers
  • Extended support of x86_64_v2 processors
  • Re-enabled SPICE support
  • Re-enabled frame pointers by default

See the AlmaLinux 10.1 changelog for a complete list of improvements.
