Better Crash Recovery with Journaling in MongoDB

The latest version of MongoDB integrates journaling to better cope with crashes.

 

The new 1.8 version of the NoSQL database MongoDB comes with several improvements, with journaling being the most important feature. It promises better recovery of the database in the case of a crash. In sharding setups, that is the distribution of the dataset over several nodes, the performance of MongoDB was improved. The MongoDB shell now has tab completion for commands. Other changes concernd geo data search and replication. The release notes give an overview of the changes.
