Latest version of OTRS helpdesk brushes up GUI

Version 3.0 of the OTRS trouble ticketing and helpdesk system is out.

 

Version 3.0 of the OTRS trouble ticketing and helpdesk software is ready for download. The highlight of the latest release is a revised web interface that is supposed to work much fluently than the old GUI that has started to show its age. It includes a management dashboard that is configurable through drag and drop, a dynamic and zoomable ticket view, customizable full text search, ticket archival and accessibility features.

OTRS is free software licensed unter the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL) and requires the Apache web server, mod_perl and a database. The OTRS company is offering commercial support for the help desk and other products such as the ITIL certified ITSM. Lately they have added a hosted version named OTRS On Demand to their portfolio.

Packages for Red Hat, Suse and Windows as well as the source code of Version 3.0.1 can be found on the OTRS site. The documentation of version 3.0 can be accessed at http://doc.otrs.org/3.0/en/html/, including an upgrade guide for existing installations.
