Sysadmin Skills and Salary Info from Dice

Increased job complexity leads to higher salaries for sysadmins, says Dice.

Traditionally, sysadmins may have been tasked with managing on-premises servers and the accompanying tech stack, says Nick Kolakowski. “These days, however, many companies boast a mix of on-premises and cloud-based solutions, which just makes administering systems infinitely more complex.”

The additional skills needed to manage more complex systems translates into higher salaries, with the Dice Tech Salary Report suggesting that the median salary for system administrators is $88,642.
