Debian Announces Version 13 “Trixie”
The Debian project, which celebrated 32 years of development this month, has announced version 13 (code name trixie) featuring:
- Official support for RISC-V (64-bit riscv64)
- Enhanced security on both amd64 and arm64
- HTTP Boot support in Debian Installer and Live images for UEFI/U-Boot systems
- Upgraded software stack: GNOME 48, KDE Plasma 6, Linux kernel 6.12 LTS, GCC 14.2, Python 3.13, and more
This version also ships with several desktop environments, including:
- GNOME 48
- KDE Plasma 6.3
- LXDE 13
- LXQt 2.1.0
- Xfce 4.20
Debian 13 will be supported for the next five years through the work of the Debian Security team and the Debian Long Term Support team.
