Debian Announces Version 13 “Trixie”

The Debian project turned 32 this year.

The Debian project, which celebrated 32 years of development this month, has announced version 13 (code name trixie) featuring:

  • Official support for RISC-V (64-bit riscv64)
  • Enhanced security on both amd64 and arm64
  • HTTP Boot support in Debian Installer and Live images for UEFI/U-Boot systems
  • Upgraded software stack: GNOME 48, KDE Plasma 6, Linux kernel 6.12 LTS, GCC 14.2, Python 3.13, and more

This version also ships with several desktop environments, including:

  • GNOME 48
  • KDE Plasma 6.3
  • LXDE 13
  • LXQt 2.1.0
  • Xfce 4.20

Debian 13 will be supported for the next five years through the work of the Debian Security team and the Debian Long Term Support team.
