IT Teams Struggle with Cloud Operations, Says NetApp Report


Automation is critical for cloud optimization, according to respondents.

Cloud operations remain a struggle for IT teams, according to the State of CloudOps 2023 report from NetApp, with security and compliance and cost management concerns listed as the top challenges.

Other challenges include:

  • Multi-cloud and/or hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Operational efficiency
  • Managing containers and/or Kubernetes
  • Lack of cloud operations expertise and resources

Additional findings from the report show that:

  • Only 33 percent of those surveyed are “very confident” in their ability to operate a public cloud environment.
  • 95 percent have automated cloud operations, while 15 percent say they have a “significant” level of automation.
  • 82 percent say automation is “critical” or “very valuable” for optimizing cloud operations and ROI.
  • 88 percent plan to increase cloud operations automation in 2023.
