Splunk Releases Enterprise 5

By

Splunk Inc. announces the release of Splunk Enterprise 5, the latest version of the company’s flagship product.

Splunk Enterprise 5 collects and indexes machine-generated data from virtually any source, format, or location in real time. According to the press release, reports are up to 1,000 times faster in this version.

Splunk Enterprise 5 includes new Index Replication that delivers built-in high availability and enterprise-class resilience. Multiple identical copies of data are maintained and, during an outage, data continues to be indexed and searchable. According to the announcement, set up is simple, and management is done through the Splunk Manager user interface.

For developers, Enterprise 5 includes a robust, versioned API and JavaScript SDK. SDKs are also available for Java, Python, and PHP. Each SDK includes comprehensive documentation, resources, and tools to help developers accelerate application development and testing.

According to the announcement, Splunk Enterprise 5 also includes features that let users capitalize on the full power of Splunk-Hadoop integration. Splunk Hadoop Connect provides bi-directional integration in order to easily and reliably move data between Splunk Enterprise and Hadoop. Thus, you can deploy Enterprise for collection, indexing, and analysis and forward events to Hadoop for long-term archiving and additional batch analytics.
